Common Affiliate Linking code Question
Im getting emails every once in a while from people asking the same thing about linking codes. So, Im posting a recent email and answer for everyone. Basically, you only have to call the refer.ccbill.com URL once to get recorded, and after that your visitor is tracked for 180 days by CCBill in their IP table database. If you dont ever call the refer.ccbill.com link (either in the gallery itself to the tour, or from your site to a free hosted gallery), then you are not telling ccbill you sent the traffic and they can not know you sent the traffic.
QUESTION: "Hi, a question regarding the 'gallery of the day'. I see my referral id in the initial code to the gallery but not anywhere on the gallery itself. How is this tracked from the gallery?"
ANSWER: "If you use the CCBill link you have below for any visitor, from
any location, it only has to be clicked once, as it calls ccbill first,
tells them to log the visitors IP address, plant a cookie on the
visitors device, and record your aff id with my account id
(936902-0000), then sends them on to anywhere that the HTML variable in
the url specifies (with a default to the tour index if no HTML is
specified). Then if that visitor ever makes a sale within 180 days
(cookie and ip table expiration date) using the ccbill checkout form,
then thats how you get sale credit, once the sale goes through, ccbill
then checks the refer database they have to see if that refer.ccbill.com
link was ever clicked by that user, what affiliate id, and what account
number.
So in other words, once you have used a tracker link like the one you
have below from your site to anything of mine, you are recorded as that
visitors affiliate by ccbill. Any extra calls to the refer.ccbill.com
address will result in a null, as you are already recording that
visitor.
